World Classics Literature List
Dieter Rams Seating SolutionsThe World Library series of books by the Norwegian Book Club (Norwegian) is a list of one hundred books compiled in 2002 by the Norwegian Book Club together with the Norwegian Nobel Institute. One hundred writers from fifty-four countries of the world participated in the compilation of the list. The purpose of compiling the list was to select the most significant works of world literature from different countries, cultures and times. Eleven works on the list were written by women, eighty-five were written by men, the authors of four works are unknown. Each writer who contributed to the list provided his own list of ten books. From Russia, Alexander Tkachenko and Valentin Rasputin participated in the compilation of the list. The books selected as a result of this process and listed here are not separated in any way by importance – the organizers said that “they are all equal”, with the exception of the book, which gained 50% more votes than any other book on the list, and was called “the best book of all time.” In the list below, works are presented in alphabetical order by the name of the author.
